Movie fun.

We went to the movies a couple of weeks ago to see Bedtime Stories (I thought it was funny, even though it got bad reviews). On our way out of the theater, we had a little good clean fun...

Emma & Sophie were not quite as enthusiastic about posing with the scary movie poster:

In fact Sophie was quite upset about the whole thing:

We made up for the trauma though by letting each child choose their favorite dog from "Hotel for Dogs" to pose by. It was hilarious, they all picked a dog that kind of looked like them.

Maturation.

Today I hit a milestone of sorts. I attended "maturation" with Jake. Maturation is what they call sex education in Utah. Jake was dreading attending, especially since Joseph was in New York, so I was the only parent available. I've been very open with all three kids about sex from the get-go, so I don't think he learned anything new. In fact, the whole presentation was extremely mild.

Basically they told boys to shower daily, wear deodorant and brush their teeth twice a day. They did throw in a few comments about the changes their bodies would be going through, but mostly they told the kids to ask their parents about anything they were curious about. I just can't believe we have a child that is getting ready to enter puberty.

Let the roller coaster ride begin!

Happy Inauguration Day

I watched President Obama's inauguration at school this morning. I was subbing in a 2nd grade class. I tried hard to get them to pay attention and to understand that they were witnessing something historic. It gave me chills to see how peacefully we are able to transition power in our country. As for the 2nd graders? They giggled when the announcer introduced Yo Yo Ma (what a silly name) and giggled even more when President Obama kissed his wife (ewwww kissing!)

Ringin' in the new year.

For New Year's Eve this year we had a fabulous party at the pizzeria.
Sophie, Emma & Jacob all decked out for the party:

Emma & I color coordinated our accessories:

"Help! My foot is stuck in an ice bucket!"

Daddy dancing with his daughters:

Sarah & Ethan:

Jake was a bit out of control with the air horn (but Brian just kept on dancing):

"You talkin to me?"

Like father, like son:

Oops, we missed the official countdown according to everyone's iphones.
Happy New Year 2009!

All the rest (aka: the longest post ever)

I've been teaching all week, so I haven't had the time to finish up our Christmas Post. This will be very heavy on the pictures and very light on the commentary. Enjoy.

Post Christmas lunch at P712:

Back up to Grandma & Grandpa's house. Emma is modeling the new scarf Betsy knitted her for Christmas.

The kids were so excited that Uncle Matt was able to visit from Oregon. It's been almost two years, so they were ecstatic to see him:

Allie's showing us how it's done in our dance-off:

After a couple more days at Grandma's, we headed down to SLC for a family dinner at Rodizio Grill. I believe Jacob thought he had died and gone to meat-lover's heaven.

This picture of Emma just cracks me up.

Fun after dinner on the elevator at Trolley Square:

After dinner we headed down to Provo for a couple of days. This was Matt's first visit ever to the Pizzeria:

We take our MarioKart very seriously:

What is Sophie patiently waiting for?

Her new favorite food....

Our last night together in Provo was spent at the Pizzeria. We had an awesome dinner.

Matt modeling his new tattoo:

"Hey Jacob, can you take a picture of me so I can prove that I was actually here this holiday season?"
"Thanks Jake, I really appreciate it."

The very tearful goodbye:

It was a great Christmas. I love my family.
